12/9/2011 | DENR Managers Annual Leadership Conference Agenda: 2011 Annual Leadership Conference PPT: Presentation | The DENR Manager's Annual Leadership Conference was held at the DHHS Public Health Campus in Raleigh. Secretary Freeman gave the opening remarks and talked about the state of DENR. He commented that as we look ahead, we need to work with new budgetlimitations and resources. That we have made significant stride thanks to staff commitments to DENR. Secretary Freeman emphasized the importance of continuing to protect DENR's core mission and to advance our strategies. He also cited some examples of current efforts being made by the Senior Management Team to focus on customer service, organizational effectiveness while stressing communication at all levels. Julie Woosley presented a PPT presentation to summarize the preliminary results from the DENR External and Internal Surveys and listening sessions completing in 2011 and sited key areas DENR rated high on as well areas needing some improvement. More information will be forthcoming in 2012. There were also team building activities such as small group breakouts to come up with recommendations on areas of improvement resulting from the DENR surveys. Lou Kost has extensive experience managing unemployment claims and assisting agency supervisors and HR staff with this program. During the overview, the role of a supervisor in an unemployment claim was reviewed as well as terminology and the importance of helping to control unemployment insurance costs. There a live demonstration using DENR data in the production system. It covered ideas on how your division can prepare to use Documentum, what you need to do to get started, basics on the index structure, documentum through “Cara”, scanning and associated costs.
