GIS

The S&A section houses the EEP Geographic Information System coordinator and scientists with refined GIS experience. The staff provides analysis assistance to EEP project managers and performs GIS modeling from the mitigation-site scale to the watershed scale. The GIS coordinator sets GIS standards and best practices for the program, trains staff, maintains the EEP geodatabase and coordinates with other NCDENR divisions to maintain a common GIS infrastructure.

GIS within EEP is moving toward a shared geodatabase platform. The current EEP geodatabase can be given to contractors to edit either in office or with GPS in the field, and then returned to EEP to update the official EEP geodatabase. The same geodatabase will someday update a publicly available web service for contractors and scientists to access through web applications or ArcGIS desktop.

A copy of the current geodatabase can be obtained by request from the GIS coordinator.
