New reclaimed water rules (15A NCAC 02U) became effective on June 18, 2011. The purpose of the rule change is to encourage and promote safe and beneficial use of reclaimed water in a manner that is protective of both public health and the environment.
Session Laws 2011-48 (House Bill 268) and 2011-218 (House Bill 388) will require the Environmental Management Commission (EMC) to make further revisions to the reclaimed water rules to incorporate changes made by the General Assembly during the 2011-2012 legislative session.
